What's in a name? ...some say, everything.

HARRINGTON INVESTIGATIONS is a proven, respected, experienced name you can trust.

Shane Harrington, PhD is the licensed Principal of Harrington Investigations, a professional, private investigative agency headquartered in Olympia, Washington. Dr. Harrington has provided investigative research and consulting services since 2001. In 2013, he launched his own agency, as a legal investigator specializing in post-conviction and criminal defense investigations.

Today, Dr. Harrington offers additional investigative services that include specialized consultation and training services, in addition to his continued work alongside trusted, reputable attorneys doing post-conviction and criminal defense cases. Clients and attorneys alike, have said that one of Dr. Harrington's most admirable qualities is in working honestly with people he can help and in accepting assignments he can complete. He will let you know if or when there is a case that is outside of scope of practice, requires only an attorney or is simply something that may not benefit from a thorough investigation.

While there are areas that he excels, there are others he does not and thankfully, Dr. Harrington knows and can accept the difference. Those who have worked with him, know that he strives to be a producer. He is detail-oriented, reliable, passionate about and exceptional in what he does, determined to excel, and ultimately...successful in the work he endeavors to do. The product Dr. Harrington delivers in the legal cases assigned is focused, resourceful and relevant. All services provided are for highly-skilled, dedicated attorneys who work tirelessly with the aim of achieving the best possible outcome, in every case. Why?

Because in a legal case, we have one chance to get it right. The stakes are much too high to waste time with anything or anyone less than the best.

This is especially important when someone's livelihood, freedom and/or even their life may be at stake. For this reason, Dr. Harrington employs a hybrid approach to all investigations. He meticulously analyzes case discovery and utilizes principles of Forensic Victimology and Investigative Psychology to formulate case-specific hypotheses.

Dr. Harrington uses this as a baseline to conduct competent, thorough Forensic Interviews and in locating exculpatory evidence, if and when available. This is essential when combatting overzealous prosecution and addressing issues related to overcharging and/or even a wrongful conviction.

"Shane is by far the best investigator I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. On numerous occasions, he has strategically conducted witness interviews that uncovered favorable evidence for my client. He has also successfully tracked down witnesses or evidence I was seeking on many occasions. He even tracked down a former juror at her home and she agreed to sign a declaration related to a case that was over 11 years old.

Shane is always extremely responsive. My emails and texts are returned immediately whenever I reach out to him. He is always professional and pleasant to work with. He keeps me updated on his progress regularly and has an emphasis on getting results. As someone who has worked with a number of investigators over the years, there is no one more easy to work with, more thorough, more prompt, and more results driven than Shane. I highly recommend him for any investigative assignment."

"Shane Harrington provides a valuable investigative resource. Dr. Harrington is a skilled, thorough investigator, with keen intuition, and a firm grasp of both the psychology, and the practice of investigation. His efforts have been a real momentum changer in improving outcomes of trial, plea negotiations, and in some cases, have led to dismissals of charges. He tailors his services to meet the needs of clients, and attorneys, and does so in a way that is cost effective, and provides significant added value.”

Shelley Ajax, Attorney

"As an attorney with both a Superior Court and Homicide contract, I have the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging cases that come through the criminal docket. Shane is the investigator I trust to assist me on the majority of my cases. He works efficiently and is effective in acquiring what I need, asking the difficult questions, when required. He can handle virtually any interview or assigned task and does so with integrity. Of all the investigators I have dealt with throughout the years, I know that I will receive a fair and impartial report on any interviews he does outside my presence. That is the most important factor that I look for in an investigator.”
